Rape on Rampage 2

By Adedoja Adewale

Every day, new rape cases are recorded, despite the sermons, the campaigns, the awareness. The fact that something is wrong keeps ringing in our heads. Many important things have been listed as the cause of rape, a lot has also been said as regards the solution to rape. Still, rape thrives. Here comes the big question. How can we stop rape? Or rather how can we avoid being raped?

As believers, our life is governed by what the bible teaches and not what the world teaches. In rape, the victim is never the cause, yet sometimes rape is avoidable. Ephesians 6:12 -For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (even in rape). Hence, the need to battle in the spirit, by praying and studying the word, not misplacing the place of being watchful in all that we do to avoid being victim and perpetrators alike.

Here are important things to note as believers in our fight against rape.

*Never be in seclusion alone or with anyone, not even with a friend. Sometimes rape occurs in isolated places and it is best that we protect ourselves.

*Politely refuse an unwanted advance. Some people are daring when they don't get what they want.

*Report suspected persons to the right authorities.

*Watch what you wear. Don't dress seductively.

*Recognize and obey the holy spirit when he speaks. God reveals things to us by His holy spirit.

*Control yourself don't be a slave to your flesh.
