Do you know the hymn with first line as Standing on the Promises of Christ my King? I have known it since my primary school days. We sang it in our school party with joy and excitement. The one that kids manifest when they do something they enjoy. Long after that period, it seemed like the song disappeared from the surface of the earth. As I forgot about it. Not completely though. However, I did not know it was a hymn. Honestly, I always wished there was a way I could find the song.

The Word of God is supreme. God acknowledges His Word all the time. He is alive (I'd like to refer to God's word by the male gender). He is so powerful that even Lucifer knows and uses him in his (Lucifer) engagement with God and man. Therefore, you definitely have no excuse being unconversant. One argument on prayers by converts is whether they can still pray with adages. The Christian response should always be that the word of God is what God is responsible for. His promises are in His Word. So he is only bound by what He says. Or what do you think made him say His word is settled in heaven? Psalm 119:89-Your eternal word, O Lord, stands firm in.

Even the Jews normally quote verses from the scriptures. David mentioned the red sea incident in the Psalms a lot of time. If you are thinking that all that happened because the God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Jacob is who they have known all the days of their lives. You are very correct. The moment you give your life to Christ, you submit all that you used to be to him. And allow him to take the lead. You now focus on his promises for you. That's what will keep you going. These promises are found in His Word.

When you pray, you can tie your requests to them. For instance, "Dear Lord, I need a new phone. Please provide an iPhone for me. You told me in your Word that whatever I ask, believing I will receive." You can even mention your friend that He provided for. "Just yesterday, you provided a new phone for Nancy. Do likewise for me too."

Many times, people do not pray enough. Not because they don't have prayer requests. But because they don't know how to pray. They've said everything they know over and over again. They've exhausted their word bank. But they don't want to stop praying.

Here's the truth .This is partly because they do not know the scriptures. So Satan makes them feel like they are praying out of context. Who decides the context?

By the way, the Holy Spirit helps you to pray. He teaches you the scriptures.

My Pastor revealed something to us. He said Jesus said up until now, you’ve not asked. Acts 16:24-Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. Ask until your joy is full. Don't stop asking. Thank. Worship. Ask. You are not proving to God that you have the spirit of contentment by limiting yourself. You are only depriving yourself of blessings that are meant for you.

So one day I sat in church quietly listening to the preacher's sermon. Then I heard the choir say "Let's rise as we sing our hymn. Lo it was Standing on the promises of God. It was a dream come true for me. That is how I found my long lost friend in Church.
