“God is a spirit”. Meditating on this scripture brought me to the knowledge of what God is. Wow! He is a Spirit. This is a wonderful revelation of God. You might need to take a pause to completely soak in that revelation. Another statement that intrigues me so much is, “they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”. These statements are not coincidences at all, because they tell us who God is and how He wants to relate with those who worship him.

Your relationship with God must come from a standpoint of the knowledge we have of Him. Although attaining spiritual maturity is a gradual process , it is unacceptable to relate from a place of ignorance and unsureness . For we Know in part and we prophesy in part.  1st Corinthians 13: 9.

God wants us to tend towards growth i.e. advancing in knowledge for the purpose of achieving excellence. You need to know God in order to properly relate with him. This means that the only way to properly relate with, serve and worship God is by knowing Him.

You worship what you do not know. John 4:22

Be ye therefore perfect, as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48

It is not rocket science but there are certain laws to be followed. Just as a farmer will need to follow some processes such as to first clear the field, obey the natural laws of planting and wait for a number of days, months or years before he begins to harvest, so also is our walk with God. When you meet a new person, you don’t become friends with them that same day. First, you become acquaintances, you continue to grow in the knowledge of who they are, what they like or dislike, what they want and how it aligns with your beliefs, ethics etc. Afterward you get to a stage where calling them friends comes naturally.

Likewise, there are various ways through which you can grow in the knowledge of God, such as creating time to study the Bible, listening to the word of God and meditating and praying daily. To believers, this should be a common knowledge.

It amuses me when people ask questions like, “Who is God?” when their answers and boldly written in the scriptures. You can't know God outside of His word. As scientifically inclined as that question sounds, it shows the height of their biblical ignorance. The Bible says, “God is love”, “He is the I am that I am”, “Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life”. You cannot exhaust these revelations of God about himself to humankind. What He wants from us is to know him and then he will show us His power. Just like the Apostle Paul; our greatest desire should be to know Him.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Philippians 3:10

You also must understand that the extent to which you enjoy God is dependent on your level of knowledge and understanding of who God is.

I will conclude by adding that, knowledge is your strongest weapon of victory in life irrespective of what dreams and aspirations you have. The Bible contains all that you would ever need to leave where you are and get to where you need to be. Whether health wise, in business, academics, career, relationships or more. The Bible says in Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Christianity is a more than a religion, it is about your relationship with God. Without the knowledge of God, there will be destruction. Search his word to know him more, to understand His thoughts to you, to know how He wants you to reciprocate His love for you. When you do these, you will always have results in life.
