It’s easy to SAY but difficult to DO. It’s easy for you to promise a thing when you are in your best state of mind. You are so excited that you almost promise a friend your entire allowance for the month. It is easy for you to wonder why a person will not flee from every form of sexual immorality as God has commanded us.

But you see, the word Obedience is weightier than many think.I have seen people create problems for themselves, their family and even generations yet unborn because of a simple act of disobedience. I have seen irreplaceable losses made because of disobedience. And I have wondered if there is really any reward for Obedience.

But let me tell you something. I have also seen men prosper because they listened, they obeyed. Abraham, the father of nations is a beautiful example. He obeyed God without questions. From leaving Ur (his fatherland) to sacrificing Isaac.

With obedience, you don’t do one. You do all. You forget about your pleasure, about the joy you derive from doing otherwise and you just obey. You allow yourself to be led by the spirit. Romans 8:14-For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

You have to understand that the money you own does not belong to you. Infact, your job is not yours. It was only given to you by God for a reason, not just to earn your daily bread.  Moreover, the truth is-At any point, he can take them away. So if you continue to press them against your chest and refuse to let Him take control, they may eventually be taken from you forcefully.

Because the reward for disobedience is not always visible, you might want to use that as an opportunity to defend your actions. But I will show you something I learnt. Blessings from God are always conditional. Many people quote scriptures on prosperity and growth. They believe them. But they forget that there are standards in the kingdom. Until you fulfill the standard, you can’t get to that desired level. Until you follow the required instructions and principles, you cannot get your desired results.

That is why it is possible for somebody that does not know Jesus at all to excel and the very one that does will fail. Take academic success as an instance. It is explicitly stated in the scriptures that a diligent man will sit before kings and not mean men. But a lazy man will quote the same scripture and expect to prosper. Look, wisdom, excellence, prosperity and wealth belong to you. They are all yours. But first, you need to seek the kingdom of God. Did you see that coming? Matthew 6:33-But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

That is the ultimate instruction. For once in your life, forget about getting rich. Shift your focus from the world to the word. Many times people don’t like to hear the truth. If it’simple, they call it a motivational speech. If it isn’t, they say it is harsh.

But the scripture never changes regardless of how you describe much hateful words it is described with.

In addition, partial obedience is disobedience. Why obey at all if you can’t obey completely? Whatever your hands finds to do, do it well.  Or what point is in obeying a little and eventually still suffering for just what you tried to avoid? If the Holy Spirit tells you not to spend your salary at all, you should listen. Everyday, I hear great testimonies that indicate that God does not just honour his words, he also honours his own children. Trust me; shame won’t befall you for obeying.

God is usually very happy when you obey him. You may not be exactly happy at that moment. You may have questions. Just obey. That is your duty.
