Today, I have a burden in my heart to deliver to you. You may be familiar with some of the truths I want to share with you today but I would like if you receive these words as though you have never heard them before.

Knowledge can be deceiving and it is even more dangerous when it is been indoctrinated. You first learned the twenty-six alphabets in English language when you were still very young, at that time I think I would be correct to say that you were lacking in understanding. You were just forced to know the alphabets by your Nursery school teacher. At this time, you had knowledge without the full grasp of what it was meant for.

Paul before he encountered God was a Pharisee who persecuted the early disciples of Jesus. The sad reality was that he did all of the persecution because he thought he would be pleasing God by persecuting those disciples. He could quote the prophets but he was lacking in understanding of what the prophecies mean until he encountered God. Little did he know that it takes special understanding from the Holy Spirit to interpret the scriptures.

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. II Corinthians 3:6.

How much more pathetic can it be for a man who has knowledge without understanding. It is like owning a car without an engine. Understanding drives what you know, that is, understanding gives purpose to knowledge.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. I Corinthians 2:11.

Humans have the capacity to understand physical things, subjects, politics, weather conditions etc. However, a man’s spirit cannot by its own self know the things of God without divine interpretation. The Holy Spirit is your standby advantage to phantom the dealings of the spirit.

You cannot take the Holy Spirit away from the equation when it comes to reading or studying your Bible. However, beyond listening to the Holy Spirit during your Bible study time, you need to accommodate Him in other aspects of your life.

My focus is to make you understand that you cannot afford to lean on your own understanding. A time will come, critical junctions of life when you will have to make critical decisions about life; who to marry, the kind of job to take, when to travel, friends to keeps, whom to let go etc. These are life-defining decisions that you cannot afford to make in the flesh.

Holy Spirit, the revealer

It is impossible to know spiritual mysteries unless they are revealed to you by God through His Spirit. What you know is far less than the deep mysteries you can access by the Holy Spirit. You can read the words written in the Bible or focus your mind on meditation of the word but it is totally impossible to have a revelation without Him interpreting it to you.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 16:16-17.

When people interpret Biblical truths without the help of the Holy Spirit, they fall into error. The other disciples that were with Jesus answered with what they heard people say about Jesus but Peter had an actual revelation. The Holy Spirit was the difference.

Acknowledge Him

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.

This is a call to submission, “in all your ways submit to him…” Submission is when you sacrifice your will for another, God in this case. Why then must you submit to Him always? This is because He knows what you need. You should not be too quick to do things on your own terms. The Bible says that there is a way that seem right to a man but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverb 14:12.

To walk with God, a time will come whereby you have to allow Him to take the lead in whatsoever concerns you. To begin with, you should not even venture into what He has not called you to do. Your brain will always want to get in the way of the Holy Spirit in your life that is why you have to deliberately submit to His leadership.

Many times, our own ambitions are far from His plans for us. Remember that you were created for a purpose and the purpose must be fulfilled. Getting involved in things that are contrary to His purpose for your life will be a form of living in disobedience to God. Hence, you must get yourself aligned with His purpose.

The place that God wants you to get to is that point when you can boldly say that you can of your own self do nothing.

In conclusion, human expertise (knowledge) can only get you some distance, but to go far with God in life and destiny, you need the Holy Ghost. The only way you can be sure you are on the right path is, knowing it is the path God has chosen for you.
