CHARACTER TRAITS; WHEN DO YOU BECOME A STUMBLING BLOCK?

The beauty of good morals cannot be overemphasized. Many a times people think it is highly impossible to live in self denial as it will be considered as weakness. But, while you consider having a good moral standard you often have to appear to be the cheated one.

Christian doctrines and standards has put Christians in this position of self-denial and portrayed them as seemingly stupid. No, they aren’t. How do I know this? Because I am a Christian and I am not stupid.

Good character is a product of good morals. Your characters are set of habits you have either consciously or unconsciously practiced over a long time that has become a part of you. When you consciously and consistently imbibe good moral standards it shows who you will become at the long run.

As a genuine believer why must you be a person of good character? This is so that you will be useful to God. A child of God with low or no character is almost as useless as an unbeliever. This is only because he may end up doing more harm than good to the work of God on the earth.

But I will come to you [and] shortly, if the Lord is willing, and then I will perceive and understand not, but their force (the moral power and excellency of soul they really possess). For the kingdom of God consists of and is based on not talk but power (moral power and excellency of soul). 1Cor.4:19-20

The kingdom of God is not based on human mouth talks and all about sharing revelations but it must first be your lifestyle. You have to be a person of great character whose life portrays what he preaches before what you have to say can be accepted.

Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. 2Sam.12:14.

Here is a critical warning for you.

Don’t ever make yourself the reason unbelievers will blaspheme against the name of God; either based on how you live your life or what you say with your mouth. Your life style should never be a reason an unbeliever would rather want to remain in sin.
