DO WITCHES EXIST?

By Adedoja Adewale

The old woman that has a black dress on with a red belt around her waist is the one. White and black dots are regularly distributed on her face but they still appear unpleasant. Her eyes are red as if they bear flames of fire. She looks very powerful that even the chicks scamper at her appearance. You'd do anything to stop her from coming to your dream.

This is the idea of who a witch is that you carried on your mind, largely because of the kind of movies that you saw. Although Halloween gave an entirely different picture with the long hats and long face.

Because of modernisation and civilisation, many traditional beliefs have been swept under the carpet. Years ago, just as no one would argue that there is no God, no one argued that witches don't exist. In fact, they dare not speak about them. These evil creatures were greatly feared.

Now it is divided. If you ask me what the young people today think about magic and sorcery, I'd say that it depends on their family background and childhood history. If you've ever experienced a spiritual attack, then you are more likely to believe in their existence than someone who hasn't. However, that is not our focus today. It's just an introduction.

If you agree that we are spiritual beings and you agree that before anything takes place in the physical realm, it has been settled in the spiritual realm, then you will agree that there are Spirits. You know the Spirit of God, He dwells within you. So does evil spirits dwell with certain people. When God sent Satan away from heaven, some angels went with him. Those angels are what you call demons/evil spirits.

Children of God have power when they receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8b- But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; likewise children of darkness have power when they become submerged in the evil that they do. These powers can be at war sometimes. That's why when Daniel prayed to God, the Angel of the Lord  told Daniel that he was delayed but the Prince of Persia(a spiritual principality). Daniel 10: 12-13-Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

Now, here's what I'm driving at. Seeing a believer express fear for Satan/sorcery/witches and wizards is one thing that should never happen. It's like saying that they matter too. For instance, concluding that you failed a course because of a witch in your family when God has not revealed this to you. Or doing certain things to appease them and stop then from getting angry at you. We both just agreed that these evil people exist. But can you please stop acting like they do? Let them know that they are not relevant.

If you are a child of God, you have the ultimate power over them. It's just that you don't know it. A popular motivational statement goes thus-There's a sleeping lion in every one. I say there is great power in you.

And that's not all. Many believers think that only weak believers get attacked spiritually. No that's very wrong. The more battles you fight, the stronger you get and the stronger you get, the more battles you win. Highly revered men of God fight battles too. Just that they are skilled in the art of fighting. So they win and you don't always get to hear about it. What this means is that, if you want to be strong, you need to learn to fight. Not fidget!

The adversary derives pleasure in seeing you fearful. So you disarm him. If you stand at your post, no witch has the power to harm you except God permits it. Satan tried Job because God allowed it. Only what God permits happens.

There's so much to write.

We'll talk later. Watch out for Part 2!

And tell me what you learnt in the comment section.

  1. Funny enough many pastors assure their congregation that one shall chase a thousand and two tem thousand when that actually wasn't what God promised us.
That was actually a word of judgement against the people who forsake their God.
We were promised power over every power of the enemy.
